Store Discount Cards

Another money saver I have found is the store discount card. Kroger, where I shop regularly has offered a "plus" card you scan at checkout to receive a discount. It's free to obtain one, you just need to ask at the service desk and they will sign you up. The savings can be significant for some items.
There are additional perks to having one of these cards. Kroger is now selling gasoline and for every 100 dollars you spend you get a discount on your gas purchase. Also, I won a 100 dollar shopping spree sponsored by Kraft foods. You are entered automatically when you buy an item or specific items together. I had no idea when the registered letter came to the door telling me I had won. The first prize was a cruise, but I am not THAT lucky ... still, it was exciting to win anything at all.
